Artist's Comments

This is the finished Claymore. The wood came from a discarded couch.
It now has been spray painted with three coats of Valspar Interior Brilliant Silver that I picked up at Micheal's Arts and Crafts. Now I'm not advertising just answering the inevitable question.
Up date Use Testors chrome lacquer it's a better paint.

Update saw a claymore by waynekaa (:iconwaynekaa:) [link] with all gold handle looked far better.

Materials used

Maple wood, Latex interior primer sealer
handle finish : suede leather

Dimensions

Total length: 71"
Blade: 48" X 5.25" X .25"
Handle: 30" X 15"
Handguard 16"wide.

Bonus here is the video link. [link]
I want to do a better one if I can.

Sorry no new video the sword has been sold, and delivered.

Critiques

:iconchioky:
There is a sense of severe serenity and a sublime, sleek shape of the sword is a real treat for the eyes. I have always had trouble imagining a large sword, like a claymore to be made elegantly, and not somthing clunky. The swords used in Claymore are all real feminine type looking swords, and so it is important to pay close attention on the curvature of the sword.

And I think that fixinman has been successfull in his venture because I genuinely think that this sword looks beautifull. And as I have said before it is difficult to capture that elegance in such a large sword yet it looks all together complete as one beautifull piece of art. The details are so finely tuned like a pocket watch and the painting is done so cleanly like picasso.

I'm sorry, but it seems I have purposely misplaced my sword in your stomach.

Revenge is a dish best served at room temperature, garnished with parsley and seasoned to taste.

check it out if you got free time.

One of the swords sold for a high price at AWA 14. You could probably do the same with your work. It seems like such a tedious job- it must be worth it in the end.

Don't you remember being a little kids when your teeths would fall out and grow back and you put the old one under the pillows so da ancient norse god Orthar the tooth collector give you a pickel nickel?

I kept track of a Sode no shiryuki I made and not including drying time I made it in six hours. The Claymore will take a while because I have to figure out how to do it. That's what takes the real time.
