OK this isn't a tutorial for the inexperienced. A table saw requires a lot of care to use. Cutting a curve on a table saw can be done., but it can be very dangerous. When cutting the channels use extreme caution as it requires the removal of all guards.

you're not suppose to cut through the tip of the scabbard...

Yes, but that is really hard to do when you are hollowing out the scabbard with a table saw. It is a lot easier (and safer) to just fill it in afterwards. In the end it won't look any different.

any ways this is just a wooden sword.. but when the time comes that you'll be making a real steel sword.. dont rush the carving of the scabbard and the tsuka.. :3

Well with a metal blade I can make a tighter fit because I won't have to worry about damaging the finish.
